Creating a More Connected Corpus Christi
A great city is more than roads, utilities, and buildings. It's the parks where families spend time together, the trails that connect our neighborhoods, the local businesses that give a place its character, and the opportunities that encourage people to stay and build their future here.
Corpus Christi has made significant investments in quality-of-life projects over the past several years. From new parks and recreation facilities to improvements along our waterfront, we have taken important steps toward creating a more vibrant and attractive community.
Now it's time to build on that momentum.
Connecting People to the Places They Love
As a member of the Planning Commission, I worked closely with city staff and fellow commissioners to improve connectivity throughout our community. One of the recurring themes was simple: we need to make it easier for people to access and enjoy the amenities we already have.
Whether it's walking, hiking, biking, or simply spending time outdoors, residents should be able to move through our city safely and conveniently.
Projects like the Oso Parkway Hike and Bike Trail and the Flour Bluff Trestle Project represent the type of investment that improves daily life for residents while encouraging healthier and more active lifestyles.
These projects are a great start, but there is still more work to be done.
Supporting a Stronger Downtown
Downtown Corpus Christi has experienced a remarkable transformation in recent years.
Local entrepreneurs have taken chances, invested in our community, and helped create new energy in the heart of our city. Businesses like Lucy's Snackbar, The Annex, and Bar Under the Sun have helped turn once-vacant spaces into destinations that attract both residents and visitors.
Organizations like the Downtown Management District have played an important role in that success by helping support projects that encourage investment and revitalization.
We must continue building on that progress.
A vibrant downtown benefits the entire city. It creates jobs, attracts visitors, supports local businesses, and gives residents a central gathering place that reflects the culture and character of Corpus Christi.
Expanding Access to the Water
One of the greatest advantages of living in Corpus Christi is our connection to the water.
Fishing, boating, kayaking, and other outdoor activities are a part of our culture and our way of life. Unfortunately, access to the water can often be limited by a lack of public facilities.
I believe we should continue exploring opportunities to expand public access through additional boat ramps, kayak launches, and improvements to existing facilities throughout Flour Bluff, Padre Island, and other areas along our bays and waterways.
When we improve access to the water, we improve access to one of the things that makes Corpus Christi special.
Attracting and Retaining Talent
Communities across Texas compete every day for talented workers, entrepreneurs, and growing families.
People increasingly choose where they want to live based on quality of life. They look for outdoor recreation, walkable spaces, vibrant local businesses, community events, and opportunities to enjoy their surroundings.
The investments we make today will help determine whether the next generation chooses to build their future here or somewhere else.
Quality-of-life projects are not luxuries. They are investments in the future of our city.
Moving Corpus Christi Forward
Corpus Christi has all the ingredients necessary to become one of the most desirable coastal communities in Texas. We have incredible natural resources, a growing economy, and a unique culture that cannot be replicated anywhere else.
My goal is to continue building on the progress we've already made by improving connectivity, supporting local businesses, expanding recreational opportunities, and creating a city where residents of all ages can thrive.

By improving response times, investing in prevention, and expanding mental health resources for first responders, we can keep our community safe while ensuring those who serve us receive the support they deserve.
